I can't be the only person who immediately understood that Athelstan is totally the family dog. Like, "Yay, Daddy's home and he brought us a present!" "Oh boy, Daddy, what is it, what is it?! We asked for a puppy--is it a puppy?" "Well, kinda, kids...we keep it on a leash and we let you play with it and we leave it to guard the house when we go away...."

And I gotta say, Athelstan's really cute with those kids...Give it a ten-year time skip, though, and they're gonna be fighting over who gets to be paired with him. >__>
