These are just about the only original characters I have: my two thirteenth-century Benedictine monks, Raolf de Carcassonne and his novice, Adhémar. Raolf is something of a warrior-monk (he fought in the Fourth Crusade and later escaped the Albigensian Crusade...o_O) and is a bit Cathar in his religious beliefs (!), and I’m afraid he’s passing on bad habits to his boy. Done in watercolors and India ink, with some touch-up on Photoshop. My boyfriend says it looks a bit like a Renaissance pietà, but then again, he also says it looks like they’re burning in hell. Thanks, Baku. XD (BTW, the title means “the monks” in Occitan, which is my monks’ native language.)

Note: This is /not/ shounen-ai, because Adhémar looks like he’s about 10 here, and I really do discourage that sort of thing, but I should add that as Adhémar grows up, he falls pretty hard for his master (I can’t really blame him ;-D), and depending on how holier-than-thou Raolf is feeling, he may or may not admit to himself that he’s come to feel the same. (Think Obi-Wan/Qui-gon or something like that, if that seems like a good analogy.) So anyway, don’t comment just to say how much you hate yaoi or to tell me to stop the blasphemy, ‘cause ha! there isn’t any in this picture. In other words, don’t leave me holier-than-thou comments. >__<
