Enjolras is doing something

Yes, clearly Enjolras is doing something in this picture, but I'll be damned if I know what it is or was even meant to be. He could be a.) laughing, b.) yawning/bored, c.) very alert and observing everything around him, d.) smoking an invisible cigarette. I don't honestly know. But the pose does kinda bear a resemblance to those of chain-smoking Sanzo from Saiyuki, so maybe that's why I'm getting that last vibe...
