Enjolras In Blue

More fun drawing different types of Enjolras. He's an ideal subject to draw, truly, because of the incredibly precise physical description given by Victor Hugo, and I'll admit that I've become a bit obsessed with drawing him lately.....I can't help it! It's just that the Greek profile is so intensely beautiful, and you'll never lack for models (all those classical Greek statues in museums!). I always have to stop myself from drawing the profile view over and over and try a new angle... This time I tried to get a little bit away from my usual style of drawing Enjolras and went more for something that Victor Hugo may have had in mind: super 1830 version, a bit like a blond Byron, and of course sufficiently high-foreheaded, thick-lower-lipped, deep-set-eyed (with reddened lids, naturally), pallid-yet-rosy-cheeked, and so on. (It always sounded more like V. Hugo was describing a mistress than a male protagonist there.......hm....) Well, I hope this is enough college-boy face and page-boy body to suit everyone. And even Enjolras must be in a good mood--red cravat, must be casual Friday.
