Sorry for the title... :XD: It's Turpin again, the crazy warrior-archbishop from Song of Roland, in all his pencilled glory. Filling in and shading his vestments were the bane of my life for several weeks. He looks like he's about to go medieval on somebody's ass. Bad Turpin. :mwahaha:

Wow, great job!

Though, I must admit that when I saw the title I had about five seconds of horrible, horrible mental images. XD

Wow this is lovely. XDDD The linework is so crisp and the shading's so smooth... Niftyrific! :D

Creation of Woman from the rib of Man:

She was not made from his head to top him;
Nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him;
But out of his side to be equal with him,
Under his arm to be protected,
And near his heart to be loved.

No, don't worry, even though I've honored him with the nickname Turpinus turpis, I don't think he's much into little boys. Considering the looseness of attitudes towards clergy celibacy back then, though, I have a feeling he would consider full-grown knights to be perfectly fair game. ;)

heheheh. yeah, this guy surprised me a lot when i read this book. he was like, LET'S KILL PEOPLE, and i was like, aren't you a bishop?

Yeah, Turpin's very cool with the whole let's do Mass thing, then slicing about a billion Saracens in half right afterwards. Very odd priest, that one, but very bad-ass warrior. :XD: I was so taken with the whole warrior-archbishop business when I first read Song of Roland that that's pretty much what I study now in the medieval history department here at Cornell (it's probably what I'll end up writing my thesis on--thanks for the inspiration, Turpin!).

Eeeee! I love it! The time spent shading was definitely worth it... the clothes are incredible! As always, your art amazes me! :bounce: Hmm, I wonder if he was any kind of influence on Sweeney Todd's Judge Turpin....

Well, I've never seen Sweeney Todd, but Turpin does tend to be a pretty common British last name, for some reason...But thanks, I'm glad you think all that time I used to shade in the folds of his cloak couldn't have been better spent studying for midterm exams... :D
